Literacy for All

Isiphiwo Primary School, Khayelitsha

Literacy levels at this school have been dropping over the years, shown by the Western Cape Education Dpt Systemic test results for Grade 3:
2002 - 28% reached the required literacy standard
2004 - 20% reached the required literacy standard
2006 - 5,3% reached the required literacy standard

Between August 2006 and April 2007, Kagiso Readers were provided by KidCare USA and Newlands Rotary, and Grade 1,2, 3 teachers received Literacy for All training.

The next time the Western Cape Education Dpt Systemic test results for Grade 3 were taken, the following result was shown:
2008 - 52,7% reached the required standard for Grade 3.

Clearly, the Literacy for All Programme has results!
